Hello friends,

A very old chinese story – un racconto molto vecchio cinese

 tells the story of a poor farmer – racconta di un contadino povero…

 The farmer’s neighbours thought the farmer was very rich – i vicini dell contadino lo consideravano molto ricco,

because he owned a horse, which he used for trasportation and for plowing – perchè possedeva un cavallo che usava per trasportare merci e per l’aratura.

One day the horse ran away – un giorno il cavallo scappò via.

The neighbours exclaimed “Ruin, ruin!” - i vicini  esclamarono ”rovina, rovina!” 

 The farmer replied ” Maybe” – il contadino rispose ” forse”

The next day his horse returned with two wild horses – il giorno dopo il suo cavallo fece ritorno con due cavalli selvaggi,

The farmer’s neighbours came running towards him shouting “Success, success” – i vicini gli corsero intorno gridando “successo, successo”

The farmer replied “Maybe” – il contadino ripose “forse”

The next day the farmers son, fell off the wild horse and broke his leg – il giorno dopo il figlio del contadino cadde dal cavallo selvaggio e si ruppe una gamba,

The neighbours screamed “Ruin ruin” – i vicini gridarono “rovina rovina”

The farmer replied “Maybe” – il contadino rispose “forse”

The next day army officials came to recruit the young men from the village - il giorno dopo arrivarono degli ufficiali militari per arruolare i giovani del villaggio,

The farmers son was discarded because of his broken leg – il figlio del contadino venne respinto per via della gamba rotta,

Once again the neighbours exclaimed “Success success,” – ancora una volta i contadini gridarono ”Successo, successo”

and once again the farmer replied “Maybe”- e ancora una volta il contadino rispose “forse.”
